Awards night was last August 4, 2008. What makes this awards interesting is that teens across the country ultimately choose the nominees - and then the ultimate winners - as they vote for their favorite stars online.

This year’s Teen’s Choice Awards show was hosted by teen icon Miley Cyrus of the Hannah Montana fame. Here’s the list of nominees and winners..

A rather sad news.. Spokesperson for the 36-year old star, Christina Applegate has confirmed that the actress have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening.”

The rep also added: “Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”

Christina is the daughter of record producer Robert Applegate and singer-actress Nancy Pridy and a two-time Golden Globe nominee.

I sure hope she would fight well and survive this one.

Dark Knight breaks Hollywood records as it surpassed the $400 million mark in just 18 days, less than half the time it took “Shrek 2” to reach that mark.

After 3 days straight at the No.1 spot in U.S. and Canadian theaters — grossing $42.7 million Friday through Sunday and on Monday it grossed $6.3 million to bring its domestic gross to $400.03 million.

The previous record holder, the computer-animated storybook spoof “Shrek 2,” crossed the $400 million mark in 43 days back in 2004.

The movies’ producer has said it expects “Dark Knight” to add at least another $100 million to its North American ticket sales, surpassing the $461 million haul of 1977’s “Star Wars” and its two reissues. “Star Wars” ranks as the No. 2 movie of all time in the United States and Canada.

The movie already has broken several domestic box-office records, including the biggest single-day of all time for its first day in theaters ($67.2 million); biggest opening weekend ($158.4 million) and fastest to $200 million (five days).

Through Monday, “Dark Knight” had grossed an additional $210.2 million internationally, but has yet to launch in six of the top 10 overseas markets, including Japan, France and Spain.

I was on a grieving mode after it was announced that William Petersen aka Gil Grissom will be leaving the crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. But hey, things like this do happen and I am now actually looking forward to new twists and character to be introduced.

CSI has been looking for a new lead and Laurence Fishburne is being courted to play the new character, described as a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn’t previously acted on any homicidal impulses.

Fishburne is a critically acclaimed actor and best known for his military and authoritarian roles. I also like his low and authoritarian voice in most of his roles so it will be an interesting CSI if he gets to play the new character.And he does looks a bit like Samuel Jackson..
